Public Notes:

Very clear image with just a slight hint of yellow. Objective is only held in place by a finely turned wooden end cap and inside by a thin paper ring (just enough that it doesn't easily move). Constant outer diameter of the ferrules rather a "relic" in this case; with the early Galileans and their minimal filed of view, it was absolutely necessary to mount them in a channel (rings gave parallel support in this case); with a steady hand in the case of the Wiesel telescopes this was no longer necessary. Rolf Willach believes it is possible that Wiesel only knew of telescopes in this form. The 2nd marking ring on draw "D" - for use as an astronomical telescope (with removal of "A" and "B", thus yielding a 2-lens ocular in place of the full 4-lens terrestrial ocular system).
