"English telescope. Main tube covered with green gilded leather. Eight pasteboard drawtubes covered with white parchment. Wooden ferrules and end pieces. Gold tooling resembling Turner (1966), nos. 2, 7, 11 and 23. Unsigned, but resembling a telescope depicted on the 1729-Scarlett trade card. Presumably first quarter of the eighteenth century" (Louwman and Zuidervaart, 2013).
