Museum Description:

"This non-achromatic telescope has a red leather-covered barrel with three green vellum draw tubes. The tubes have been decorated with gold tooling and the lenses are set in ebony mounts. There is a red leather cap for the objective end of the telescope, but the cap for the eyepiece end is now missing. A number of the lenses are also missing. The name 'Hamel au Grifon' appears on the eyepiece draw tube and may refer to the maker or to an owner" (Royal Museums Greenwich).
