"Achromatic telescope with an early ‘triplet’ objective lens and an eyepiece with three possible magnifications. One of these can be selected by means of a rotating crenated gear wheel. All tubes covered with tortoise-shell, with silver frames. Signed: ‘Passemant au Louvre’. Length 9-18 cm, Ø 4.5 cm. Made in the years 1765-1769" (Louwman and Zuidervaart, 2013).
