"Presumably French telescope. Main tube and ferrules covered with dark leather, richly gilded with fine gold tooling, with a lace pattern, that is used on both French and Italian telescopes. Three pasteboard drawtubes covered with green coloured leather. Compound eyepiece with three lenses. Wooden end pieces. Unsigned. Maximum length 65 cm, Ø 5 cm. Last quarter of the seventeenth century" (Louwman and Zuidervaart, 2013).
