"Presumably French telescope. Main tube and both caps covered with black leather with gold tooling, with a lace pattern, that is used on both French and Italian telescopes. Four pasteboard drawtubes covered with green coloured parchment. The ring of the eyepiece is made of lignum vitae(pockwood). Length 75-248 cm, Ø 7.5 cm. Unsigned. Eighteenth century" (Louwman and Zuidervaart, 2013).

This is very similar to a telescope by Philippe-Claude Le Bas in the Adler's Collection (see W-179).
