"Presumably Italian telescope made of pasteboard. Main tube covered with parchment with (worn-out) gold tooling (e.g. a vase with flowers). Ditto ferrules, end pieces and two caps, lined at the inside with marbled paper. Six drawtubes, covered with marbled paper. Small diaphragm. Length 35-107 cm, Ø 5 cm. Unsigned. Last quarter of the seventeenth century" (Louwman and Zuidervaart, 2013).
